Third Ward School

Originally constructed in 1880 as the Third Ward School, the building would become known as the Garfield School in 1918 when the names of the city schools were changed to honor various Presidents of the United States. The building was later vacated after some of the city school buildings were consolidated. Years later, the building became the home of the Schoolhouse Store which sold fabric, clothes, and materials from the Glen of Michigan factory that was located across the street on Hancock Street.
