About

The Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area is a 45-mile corridor along the river, stretching from the foothills near Fort Collins to its confluence with the South Platte River in Greeley. Designated by Congress in 2009, it honors the region’s role in the development of Western water law and irrigation techniques. The area is managed by the Poudre Heritage Alliance, a nonprofit that promotes historical and cultural opportunities along the river corridor.
