The Brown Palace Saloon, possibly named after the bartender, Robert S. Brown, opened its doors in 1905 with bar fixtures from the Senate Saloon. With Mesa County's early vote for prohibition, Purcell's only Palisade saloon closed its doors in 1908. Around 1912, a groceries and meat shop operated out of this location. The Palisade Drug Company occupied this corner space from 1920 until 1998, featuring a popular soda fountain. Tucan Coffee operated here for five years, and Canyon View Vineyard Church held services here from 2012-2016 before Palisade Cycle & Shuttle expanded.
