Detailed ceramic mosaic panels along the Deer Head Creek pedestrian path.
Old Mill Junction Arts & Heritage Alliance
Installed beside the creek pathway, the Voices of the Creek Mosaic honors the waterways and wildlife that shaped early settlement in the region.
Thousands of hand-laid glass and ceramic pieces create flowing patterns inspired by birds, trout, and cottonwood leaves commonly found near Deer Head Creek.
"Waterways have always carried stories. Long before roads and railroads connected communities, creeks connected ecosystems, wildlife, and people. This mosaic celebrates those connections through thousands of individual pieces working together to create something larger than themselves. The birds, trout, and cottonwood leaves represented here are reminders that nature remains an active part of our shared history. I invited community volunteers to help place many of the tiles because I wanted the finished work to reflect collective stewardship. Just as every tile contributes to the image, every person contributes to the character of a place." - Brian Richards
