About
Designed by noted architect-master builder Asher Benjamin in 1798, the Old South Church has been one of Main Street's crown jewels for more than 200 years. At the time it was the largest, most sophisticated building in Vermont, closely following the "Design for a Meeting House" from Benjamin's first builder's guide. A clock was added in 1818, a bell in 1844, and a Colonial Revival portico in 1922.
