- The Old South Church was designed by noted architect-master builder Asher Benjamin in 1798.
- At the time it was the largest, most sophisticated building in the state of Vermont.
- Its design closely followed the "Design for a Meeting House" from Benjamin's first builder's guide.
- A clock was added in 1818, a bell in 1844, and a Colonial Revival portico in 1922.
